Program requirements
The program of study leading to the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering must include a minimum of 30 semester hours of credit consisting of the following:
- At least nine semester hours of electrical engineering graduate courses, to be selected from ECE 501, ECE 503, ECE 506, ECE 507 and ECE 509.
- At least nine semester hours in one of the following concentrations:
- digital systems
- signals and systems
- telecommunications
- other, as approved by the adviser and advisory committee
- At least six semester hours of technical electives approved by the adviser.
- Six semester hours on an approved thesis or six hours of additional electrical engineering coursework. Students receiving 50% assistantship or stipent over one academic year are required to pursue the thesis option.
A final examination is required at the completion of the thesis or course work. Students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade of B (3.0 of a possible 4.0) with no more than two grades of C permitted.
Admission requirements
The normal qualification for admission is graduation from an accredited engineering curriculum with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average based on a 4.0 grading system. Students who have degrees in physics, chemistry, applied mathematics or related sciences are encouraged to apply, but may be required to take a limited amount of undergraduate work including three semester hours in differential equations to complete their preparation for graduate study in the School of Engineering.
