Ben Glascoe enjoys every part of his job as a lab technician for civil engineering — the work, the faculty and especially the students. "The fresh, young minds keep you young," he said. Glascoe recently received an Award for Excellence in Staff Service from the School of Engineering. He works with students during an intensive three-week summer surveying field laboratory as well as during the year, helping students use equipment in the soils, hydraulic, materials, environmental and transportation laboratories. Glascoe also was lauded for networking the 24 computers in the new design lab on the fourth floor of Kettering Laboratories, and for linking these computers to those in civil engineering's first floor laboratories. "I learned from the ground up, from running wire to making connections," Glascoe said. |
