The University of Dayton Design and Manufacturing Clinic provides upperlevel engineering students with opportunities to trade their textbooks for experiential learning — solving actual engineering problems that are presented by business and industry.
Students work in teams to complete projects that span over a 15-week semester, or are assigned as single assignments within a design course. Student teams complete projects independently and are monitored by faculty and industry mentors.
Typical projects include:
- product design or redesign,
- manufacturing equipment and design,
- test equipment design,
- manufacturing task simulations,
- ergonomic evaluations, and
- proto-type cost/marketing evaluations.
