Design and Manufacturing Clinic

The University of Dayton Design and Manufacturing Clinic provides upperlevel engineering students with opportunities to trade their textbooks for experiential learning — solving actual engineering problems that are presented by business and industry.

Students work in teams to complete projects that span over a 15-week semester, or are assigned as single assignments within a design course. Student teams complete projects independently and are monitored by faculty and industry mentors.

Typical projects include:

  • product design or redesign,
  • manufacturing equipment and design,
  • test equipment design,
  • manufacturing task simulations,
  • ergonomic evaluations, and
  • proto-type cost/marketing evaluations.
