Engineering Computing and Information Services (ECIS) provides state-of-the-art computing and information services to faculty, staff and students in the School of Engineering. The ECIS staff designs and administers networks, workstations and PCs. Classrooms and study rooms in Kettering Laboratories are covered by the University wireless network. Several classrooms are notebook-friendly, offering power outlets at each seat, and more are planned. Kettering Laboratories houses two interdisciplinary PC workstation classrooms, and academic departments have additional computing resources. Each PC workstation features a 20-inch monitor and generous memory. Software includes:
Through the workstations, students have access to School-standard academic and advanced engineering software, as well as productivity, utility, e-mail and other network software. A distance-learning classroom provides two-way video and audio to remote classrooms. A research PC workstation classroom provides computing access for research and small graduate- or senior-level design classes. ECIS maintains an internal site to support course work, communication and other related educational and operational functions for current faculty, staff and students in the School of Engineering.
