Our undergraduate program will prepare you for a career in product or process development, manufacturing, process design or research. A chemical engineering degree from the University of Dayton prepares students to work in a wide range of fields — from aerospace, biochemical/biomedical/ medical and consumer products to conventional and alternative energy, food, agricultural, pharmaceutical, materials, environmental and traditional chemical industries.

Chemical engineering graduates:

• have successful careers in the chemical process industry with the skills necessary to have opportunities to work in nontraditional industries and positions;
• are successful at prestigious graduate, law and medical schools;
• are committed to performing ethically while serving their professions, companies and communities; and
• exhibit strong critical thinking skills from the breadth of their general education and depth of their foundation in engineering principles, and engage in continuous intellectual and personal growth.

Currently, about 170 undergraduates are enrolled in chemical engineering. Our size is small enough to offer personal attention, yet large enough to provide a variety of educational opportunities. We maintain excellent laboratories that have been judged as some of the best in the country. Our students are strong academically and have been successful in competing for internships, co-op positions with local and national companies, and for regional and national awards and scholarships. Our program offers a balance between practical and theoretical approches to problem solving. The high performance of our graduates in industry and graduate programs has also brought our department an excellent reputation.
