Our program is designed to provide students with a thorough education in the principles and methods fundamental to the civil engineering profession. Knowledge is provided in a broad spectrum of courses to maximize career options. At the same time, flexibility is provided through engineering electives to permit specialization in particular areas of interest. Students may select areas of specialized study through technical electives with concentrations in environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation and water resource engineering. The department is characterized by experienced, professional faculty whose primary concern is providing quality education to each student; well-equipped, state-of-the-art laboratories; low student-to-faculty ratios in civil engineering classes allowing generous amounts of personal contact with instructors; opportunities to meet on a regular basis with practicing engineers in the Dayton community; and free advising and tutoring programs to assist and ensure student success. Students are recognized as the department's most valuable asset and the future leaders of our profession. The civil engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. |
