Cooperative education provides civil engineering students with real-world knowledge. Our department has more co-op positions than we have students, which makes it possible to have meaningful professional experiences and allows options when selecting a co-op position.

Our department is proud of the consistent and unique success of our graduates, who pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam on their first try. UD's success rate (100 percent) is significantly higher than state (95 percent) and national (85 percent) averages. Many graduates rank top in the state on the Professional Engineers exam.

Many of our students often receive job offers before graduation. In fact, our placement rate for graduates is at or near 100 percent. In addition, our students are highly recruited by the most prestigious and respected graduate engineering and law schools in the nation, including Cornell University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Purdue University, Texas A&M University, University of Illinois, University of Michigan, Univeristy of Notre Dame and University of Texas at Austin.

Our faculty is actively engaged in various research projects. Project sponsors include the Ohio Department of Transportation, the United States Air Force, and numerous water and wastewater agencies in the Dayton area.
