Minors program of study

Undergraduates can opt to pursue a minor program of study to receive specialized training in an area complementing their major. Undergraduates in engineering can choose from 19 engineering minor programs. Undergraduates in engineering technology can choose from eight minor programs. When completed, the minor becomes part of the student's permanent record. Students pursuing a minor must choose a program at the beginning of their junior year. At least 12 semester hours are required for a minor, which can be completed in a student's third and fourth years.

The 19 minors presently available to engineering students are:

   Aerospace Engineering       Environmental Engineering
   Bioengineering      Materials Engineering
Chemical Processing      Mechanics of Engineering Systems
   Composite Materials Engineering      Operations Engineering
   Computer Systems      Signals and Systems
   Design and Manufacturing Engineering      Structures
Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems      Thermal Engineering
   Energy Conversion       Transportation Engineering
   Engineering Management      Water Resources Engineering
   Engineering Mechanics

The eight minors available to engineering technology students are:

Analog Electronic Design         Industrial Engineering Technology
Computer Engineering Technology        Manufacturing Engineering Technology
Electronic Engineering Technology        Mechanical Engineering Technology
Electronics in Support of Manufacturing        Quality Assurance

Minors also are available in disciplines outside the School of Engineering. Special minors can be created with the adviser's approval.
